Friends of Kirk Hallam Lake and Meadows

Thanks to David, who directed me to the Friends of Kirk Hallam Lake and Meadows, a community group who have the aim of managing the area. A good example of how your place is attractive and how the community, or a stakeholder group, works to sustain a resource that helps enhance the quality of life of local residents. There is a nice gallery of images on the site. Useful for Year 7 who are considering how the lake is managed.

I have now been to 2 of the meetings held by Friends of Kirk Hallam Lake and Meadows, and it is really encouraging to see how links are being made between students and the community. I hope that students will feel motivated to help the local residents preserve and protect the wonderful surroundings that we so often take for granted here at kirk hallam. Students should check out the student notice board for events that will be happening soon, as well as a project to build bat boxes in technology!

I completely agree… a good example of work between students and community. The development of bat boxes sounds very interesting.
