Noel has produced some good ideas for teaching about depressions, I’m nearing this so can’t wait to have a go. Perhaps poor Pat will be relegated this year…
Felt inspired by Alan and Noel to have a go at producing some Google Earth Art, in order to support students and fellow members of the department I produced this PowerPoint, I understand the use of the image is naughty.
Noel has also recently used Flickr to produce art using Creative Commons licensed images, looks great as well.

I looked at this whilst wandering about Waterstones, it’s a book of stickers, posters, postcards, and other treats which can be used to conduct your own awareness campaign, the retail price is fifteen pounds, so I dropped it… but lovely Amazon are selling it for half-price, which means it’s ordered. Slight irony though, I imagine the book’s carbon footprint will be that little bit larger now.
Perhaps one for Santa? Oh, I’ve just realised I’m now encouraging consumerism.

I’ve been working on a document about strategies for dealing with low level disruption in the classroom.
The document looks at each section of a lesson and suggests strategies can could be used to tackle disruption.
The document is not based upon sanctions, but changes in practitioner behaviour.
This first draft can be found here. (80kb word doc).
I’d be interested in constructive criticism or suggestions for additional strategies.
This is a working document and hasn’t been carefully edited.
I’m been wanting to get hold of his book by Martin Dodge and Rob Kitchin for sometime, nicely they have release it under a Creative Commons License, I’ve been pondering a cyber geography unit at Key Stage 3 for many a year.
