We were attracted by the balance of physical and human geography, the clear specification, and the straight forward approach to controlled assessment.

We also like the ‘traditional’ content, which we believe would help prepare students much better for the A-level spec at our sixth form. Personally I think it also allows us to be much more creative in our approach to engaging students.

I’m very interested to discover that you’re teaching the CCEA spec. As a Geography teacher in Northern Ireland, CCEA is all I’ve ever taught. I have looked with interest at some of the alternative specs on offer from the English boards, but it’s been hard to look past the local support offered by CCEA (as you say, Margaret is very helpful – we had her down in our our school last week helping us out with A2 fieldwork and chatting to our pupils).

A couple of things: I’d love to know why you chose CCEA. And secondly, I see that Ruth has been helping you out. I’d like to offer any help I can give too – it’s the least I can do in return for all the inspirational ideas I’ve been picking up from you since I discovered your blog during the summer.
