Apologies, a busy week and Bangor….

On Monday, I travelled to London for an orientation meeting, it is part of the programme of my International Professional Development Visit to Bangladesh in October. I’ll share some more details as I work through the paper work. Travel was slightly restricted on the Tube due to some security alerts, but apart from this, the journey to London was pleasant.

I arrived in time, allowing myself an hour to walk around Westminster Abbey, but on the way back, to the now called Department of Children, Schools and Families, took a wrong turn and ended up surrounded by armed police and journalists at New Scotland Yard.

The journey home was somewhat eventful, it took five hours to travel home, a lightening strike took out the signals at Bedford.  The number of trains able to travel north was therefore limited.I ended travelling to Grantham (though I was tempted to stay on until York) and then back to Nottingham. Before this, I did attempt a journey to Luton, in order to find a connection, that failed when I witnessed the Japanese-style commuter nightmare. 🙁

This week is very busy, last night I was at the Nottingham University Subject Group meeting discussing a number of changes to Geography education and the P.G.C.E. course. We also had a brief discussion about new technologies. If any mentors are reading, feel free to leave a comment.

Year 10 Geographers are going to Bangor next week, pray for fine weather…..
