Picture1 I’ve been playing with a couple of IPad apps this week, I’m not convinced at the moment about the educational value of using them in the classroom until there is a low student to IPad ratio, but that’s another discussion…

I’ve particularly enjoyed BETA testing the ShowMe app this week, it provides you with a whiteboard that allows you to record video explanations which can then be uploaded to the Net.

ShowMe iPad App from San Kim on Vimeo.

I like it because the interface is easy to use and videos can be uploaded almost instantly to the website. This was my first attempt.

Sorry- Internet Explorer doesn’t like the embedded videos.

Later in the week the app was redeveloped and included the opportunity to annotate images and embed into blogs etc. Another attempt by me.

Nice example by Alan Parkinson, illustrating how it could be used to annotate photographs.

Looking forward to seeing this develop, really simple and effective idea. Despite the cost of the IPad (!), this really simplifies the ability to make and record a quick explanation that can be used by students. I was also really impressed at how quick the team working on the app responded to requests and ideas.
